Curatorial Process
From a creator's hands to The Collection.
Every work that enters FAACCE passes through a six-stage curatorial process. It exists to protect creators, audiences and the integrity of African cultural production.
- 01
Creator Submission
A creator submits a work through the Studio, accompanied by its story, provenance, materials and supporting documentation.
- 02
Initial Review
The FAACCE curatorial office confirms completeness, eligibility and adherence to our Standards of Excellence.
- 03
Curatorial Assessment
Two members of the Council independently assess the work for originality, cultural significance and artistic excellence.
- 04
Authenticity Review
Material, technique and origin are reviewed — often in dialogue with the creator and, where relevant, partner institutions.
- 05
FAACCE Verification
A Certificate of Authenticity is issued. The work is assigned its FAACCE certificate number and added to the verified register.
- 06
Published in The Collection
The work enters The Collection with its full curatorial dossier — story, scholarship and certificate visible to the public.
