Story behind the work
Filmed across the churches of Lalibela and the highland monasteries, Highlands and Hymnal follows the last generation of debtera — the church scholars who carry Ge'ez chant, calligraphy and manuscript tradition inside a country changing at speed.
A 96-minute feature with an original chant score recorded on location; theatrical and archival release.
